Dr. Beck is Director of Alumni Relations and Dean Emeritus at William James College. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Duke University and Master's and Doctoral degrees in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Judge Baker Guidance Center in Boston. He joined the Douglas A. Thom Clinic for Children where he became Director of the Adolescent Evening clinic and was Chief Psychologist and Director of Training at the Trinity Mental Health Center in Framingham, MA before joining our faculty. He has been a core faculty member in our Clinical Psychology Program since 1980 and served as Associate Director of Training before becoming the Dean of the Clinical Psychology Department from 2002 to June 2013.
Dr. Beck is a child clinical psychologist whose interests include child and adolescent assessment and treatment; transitions to fathering; the role of parenting in life cycle development; aging and career transitions; student training; supervision and professional development. Currently, as Director of Alumni Relations, he is actively invested in working with psychological professionals on early career development and mid-career transitions. He has a private practice in Newton, Massachusetts.
