Dr. Dan Jacobs is on the Core Faculty in William James College's School Psychology Department (MA/CAGS and PsyD programs) and also serves as an adjunct faculty member in William James College's Clinical and Leadership Psychology Departments. Dr. Jacobs is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with individuals, families, programs and systems.  Dr. Jacobs is a graduate of William James College's Clinical PsyD Program and also has earned an EdM from Harvard University and an MBA from Salem State University. He has worked as an internal and external consultant to primary and secondary schools, hospitals, and residential programs regarding counseling and intervention concerns. He has also worked with organizations and agencies (e.g., Department of Children and Families, Department of Mental Health, Massachusetts State Police Department, local municipal police departments) providing training, testing and/or consultation services.  Dr. Jacobs was formerly the Director of Sub Acute Services at NSMC/Salem Hospital in Salem, MA and developed and ran the Adolescent and Adult Partial Hospital Programs, which helped adolescents, transitional age youth, and adults with significant mental health and dual diagnosis concerns.  He was responsible for all program planning, budget, hiring and training concerns and also served on the medical center's Medical Records and Manager Leadership teams and actively participated in internal qualitative reviews and in external JCAHO (now Joint Commission) accreditation processes of his programs.

In the past 10 years Dr. Jacobs has delivered over 150 professional Continuing Education trainings on issues of child and adolescent psychopathology, individual and family counseling, dual diagnosis, crisis management, system improvement, ethics, and behavior change.  Dr. Jacobs is very interested in finding ways to improve effectiveness in all types of systems. He also has a private practice in Andover, MA at Jacobs Psychological & Consulting Services and works with children, adolescents, adults and families challenged by mental health and substance abuse concerns and also works with adults exploring professional growth and mid-career change options. Dr. Jacobs is a member of: The American Psychological Association (APA), the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), The Massachusetts School Psychologists Association (MSPA), the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology, and Division 18 of the APA (Psychologists in Public Service).
