Directed Studies are courses that are outside our curriculum and are arranged by an individual student (independent study) or by a group of up to six students (tutorial). Such courses provide students with an opportunity to shape their studies according to individual interests. They are meant to supplement the curriculum, and to respond to individual educational and training goals of the students. They may be taught by William James College faculty who are experts in a particular area. All directed studies are elective courses, approved by the student’s advisor and the Directed Study Review Board of the Faculty. The number of credits earned depends on the number of contact hours. Students may take up to 8 elective credits as directed studies.
