(Credits: 3)

This course will examine human growth and development throughout prenatal, child, adolescent, and adult stages of life.  Theories and data across the fields of psychology, sociology, and biology will be reviewed with a particular emphasis on perspectives towards development.  Changes across the lifespan in areas such as physiology, perception, cognition, social behavior, and affective domains will be explored.  The impact and effect of these changes and how they relate to the need for human services will be examined.  A lens of diversity and multiculturalism will also be used across topics to explore the meaning and impact of concepts such as typical and atypical development on individuals and groups.
