Program Psychology and Human Services BS
Class of 2024

My name is Anthony Santoro Jr. and I am a first-generation college student from Billerica, Ma. I completed the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health and Human Services program at William James College (WJC) with a minor in Behavioral Health in August 2024. I graduated as one of the inaugural members of the William James chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. I found WJC through a former therapist (of mine) that changed my life, and who is also an alumnus of the school. I was eager to attend William James because it is affordable, completely focused on psychology, and is an uplifting, friendly, and diverse community filled with tenderhearted faculty and staff; this school is devoted to your growth, education, and success. You will build true connections at this school. While matriculated, I sat in on ACES (student council) meetings, engaged in the discourse surrounding school policy, and wrote a letter to the school donors. This is a testament to how much the faculty values you and your voice. I have applied to the Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program –here at William James College-- beginning January 2025. I aspire to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) working with the general population; helping individuals conquer the struggles of daily living.

Your first year at William James will be exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. This program is similar to a Master’s Program in that you will have a lot of resources to read, watch, and learn from. Do not stress it. To be successful, I encourage you to put yourself first. Invest in yourself and your time at this school. If you care about people, and helping others, relish this opportunity and make the most of it; the faculty genuinely care about you and many are therapists with their own private practice. You will gain tremendous insight into life as a human services worker; something I believe you will not find anywhere else. I will share a quote from one of my favorite WJC professors, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care” – Michael Peters (LMHC). Show the world how much you care and please, feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns, or simply to learn more about being a psychology student. Lastly, something I want you to remember is that a bad grade is just a bad grade and does not define you. You choose what happens next.
