Student Ambassador: Brittney Cangemi
Student Ambassador, Clinical Psychology PsyD
|Program||Clinical Psychology PsyD|
|Concentration||Children & Families of Adversity & Resilience (CFAR)|
Hello prospective students! It is great to know that you are considering William James College for your doctoral education in Clinical Psychology. My name is Brittney Cangemi and I am a second-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program. I am in the Children & Families of Adversity & Resilience (CFAR) concentration and hope to work with the Autism Spectrum Disorder community after graduation. I am originally from Scituate, MA and attended Connecticut College for my undergraduate education where I studied Cellular and Molecular Biology and French.
With a desire to one day attend medical school to study Psychiatry, I got a job after graduation at Boston Children’s Hospital in an Immunology lab to get some medical experience before applying. During my time at BCH, I had the opportunity to shadow a psychiatrist. I found that the majority of his time was spent managing children’s psychiatric medication during many brief appointments. While medication is a large and important part of many client’s treatment plans, I found myself more interested in the therapeutic relationship and decided to enter the field of clinical psychology to become a child psychologist.
The CFAR concentration that William James College offers initially drew me into exploring all that this institution has to offer. Between the vast research and learning opportunities and the incredibly strong sense of community, I fell in love with William James College. I was impressed by the warmth, support and sincere guidance that the William James College faculty and staff gave me through my application process, interview day and while preparing for my first semester as a doctoral student. Now, as I find myself a part of this incredible community I so eagerly sought after, I find that same warmth, support and guidance in my classes and around the school.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. I am happy to help you along your journey, just as so many in this community did for me. Good luck!
