Hello prospective William James College students!

I want to start by saying congratulations on your decision to embark on this journey of graduate school.  It is my pleasure to introduce you to William James College and all it has to offer!

I was born and raised in Natick, Massachusetts and went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for my undergraduate degree.  During my undergraduate career, I struggled with finding a particular major that was best for me.  However, I knew for sure was that I wanted to be in a profession where I could help and support others, which led me to Psychology and I have never turned back.  I am currently a first-year student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at William James College.  I am in the Children and Families of Adversity (CFAR) concentration.  Attending William James College has been a goal of mine since I first heard about it as an undergrad.  The sense of community and support is truly remarkable.  There are never any moments of which I feel like I don’t have someone to turn to for some extra guidance.

My current and future career interests involve working with the adolescent population of individuals on the Autism Spectrum as well as individuals with substance use disorders.  What I love about this program is, by participating in various practicum opportunities, it allows you to explore different populations and establish what you specifically want to pursue in your career.  As you consider which program is best for you, it is important to identify what is particularly important to you and will allow you to be most successful.  For me, it is having support from faculty, staff, and peers, ample learning opportunities, an organized, thorough curriculum, and a community that accepts and celebrates diversity.  I am fortunate enough to experience this every day at William James College. Although approaching a 5-year program may sound intimidating, the overall sense of togetherness between all members of the WJC community has made it much more attainable and enjoyable.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I have had the best experience at William James College so far and I look forward to welcoming you into our WJC community!
