School Psychology MA/CAGS
Class of 2019
I am from Weymouth, MA and am currently studying in the School Psychology MA/CAGS program at William James College. I chose William James mainly for their experiential learning style as well as the fact that it is strictly a graduate school for psychology programs. I wanted to be around students and faculty who had the same interests as myself as well as learn from them. The small class sizes were also appealing to me. I am so excited I found this program because I have always wanted to work in the school systems, and my career goal is to be a school psychologist. I love the fact that the professors have had so much experience in the field and most of them are still active in the field. They bring their experiences to class, which keeps the information relevant and relatable.
My advice for new students on how to form a successful first year experience is to dive into the experience and not hold back. Ask questions, talk to new people and faculty, and don’t ever be afraid of not knowing something. Understand that you are there to learn on a whole different level than undergraduate school, so be open to feedback and let yourself be a beginner. You will be surprised at what you will learn just within the first year, if you sustain that attitude!
