Class of 2022

Hello, my name is Craig, and I currently live in Franklin, MA. I am a MA/CAGS student in the School Psychology Program at William James College (WJC). I was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 2016 after serving six years as an M1A2 Abrams Tank Crewman obtaining the rank of Sergeant. I then went on to complete an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice at Massachusetts Bay Community College. I then attended Bridgewater State University where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Special Education Professional Practices. I began my graduate studies at WJC in the Fall of 2019. My professional interests within the field are providing counseling services within the public-school setting to students who have social, emotional, or behavioral issues.

I chose WJC for the opportunities for field placement right at the beginning of the program. While being placed immediately into a school to begin to learn the role of a school psychologist may be a bit overwhelming at first, it is truly a valuable experience that will prepare us for our future careers and lead you to feel confident in the field. Another reason WJC caught my eye is for the strong emphasis the school places on helping veterans be a part of the community and that there are specific programs to help veterans become mental health practitioners that serve fellow veterans within the Veteran Affairs medical system.

I am currently the School Psychology Department ACE (Academic Councils Engaging Students) for my cohort. My role as the ACE is to be a conduit between my peers and faculty for academic concerns within the department. The ACE role has been an excellent opportunity for me to get to know my cohort better and to best serve their needs towards academic success.

My best advice to new students is to enter graduate school ready to immersive yourself into the role of a school psychologist. Take the field experience opportunity to learn from other professionals in the field and be ok with making mistakes. Also, another important piece of managing graduate school is maintaining strong time management skills and a healthy self-care routine.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about WJC, the school psychology program, or V.A. education benefits!
