Clinical Psychology PsyD
Class of 2021

Hello prospective and entering students!

I am from Rockville, Maryland and I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2012. I majored in Psychology and minored in Women’s Studies.  During my undergraduate career, I worked as a research assistant in several psychology labs studying schizophrenia, social anxiety, and PTSD. Upon graduation, I was still unsure of what graduate program to pursue. I decided to take time off in order to gain clinical experience. I worked as a case manager and as a counselor on a crisis hotline.  During my time off, I realized that my passion lies in clinical work.

I am a student in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program here at William James College. I am so excited to be apart of the WJC community.  After attending WJC information sessions, speaking with current faculty and students, and touring the campus, I was certain that this PsyD program would provide me with the solid foundation and indispensable skills essential for clinical practice and psychological assessment. On interview day, everyone was so welcoming. I instantly felt that this college was the perfect fit for me. After years of searching for the right program, I was so exited to move to a new state and begin my long awaited journey of becoming a clinical psychologist.

After attending such a large university with over 300 students in each lecture, I truly appreciate the small class sizes here at WJC. This has allowed me to establish a strong, supportive network with my peers.  The professors here are so helpful and truly want you to succeed.  Additionally, WJC’s focus on clinical work starting in the first year, has allowed me to grow tremendously in an extremely short period of time.  Through this hands-on experience, I have become more self-aware and patient with my clients. I am also learning how to develop strong therapeutic relationships.  The combination of field experience and coursework can be challenging at times. However, with hard work and commitment to this stellar experiential program, you will be greatly prepared for your future career.

Overall, the training and connections you will make here will certainly set you up for a successful, fulfilling career. Feel free to reach with any questions or more information about my experience at William James College!  I would love to help you in any way that I can. I sincerely hope you chose to become part of the WJC family!
