Hello prospective and entering William James College students!

My name is Michelle Trujillo and I was born and raised in sunny Miami, Florida. I am Cuban-American so I grew up around lots of Spanish music and bustling family get-togethers. I have always had a passion for improving public policy surrounding mental health so after high school I pursued a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida International University. During my time there I was a Research Assistant for an experimental study that focused on different influencing factors of the interrogation process on children and adolescents. This experience stimulated my interest even further and solidified my desire to enter this profession.

Once I finished my degree, I knew I wanted to obtain the highest level of expertise in my field while also taking into account my personal learning styles and preferences. As I narrowed my graduate degree options down to a PsyD or a PhD, it became clear that the way I could most effectively learn and create the change I wanted to see was to pursue a Clinical PsyD with some type of emphasis in the Forensic arena. I meticulously explored and compared schools through a long application process and William James College impressed me beyond what I was expecting.

As an institution, William James College is welcoming, reputable, comprehensive, and so much more! I am thoroughly enjoying my time here and it's only the beginning. Classes are collaborative, the faculty is immensely helpful and knowledgeable, and the administration is extremely supportive. If you begin your clinical training here at William James College, I encourage you to take full advantage of the resources given by this community and to make active efforts to get to know the students around you. Graduate school is a challenging process but you should always be confident that you are not in it alone. Some of the best parts of this experience are the connections and memories you make and I couldn't think of a better place than this one to do that.

I hope I was able to give you some insight into what you can expect from your time here but if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out and good luck on your future endeavors!
