Johnson & Wales University
Organizational Psychology MA
Class of 2018
Howdy, prospective students! My name is Sean Corcoran and I’m originally from southern New Hampshire. I completed my undergraduate studies in International Hospitality & Tourism Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. Since graduating, I’ve held numerous roles within human resources at F-100 companies in Boston and NYC. Currently, I manage campus recruiting & student programs for a global retail bank.
After roughly five years in the industry, I felt ready to pursue graduate studies. For months, I researched different programs but always found myself drawn back to William James College. I ultimately chose the Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology (MAOP) Program because of its practitioner-scholar model, experienced faculty, and its flexible schedule which is designed to accommodate working professionals. Further, through my concentration in Talent Management, I’m able to gain a stronger understanding of the theories and practices related to the field of human resources, which I’m often able to apply the very next day at work. My ultimate career goal is to become an Executive Coach working primarily with senior leaders at global, complex organizations.
If I could offer you any advice, it would be to make sure you’re fully prepared to take on graduate-level study. The MAOP Program is fast-paced, rigorous, and requires an immense amount of self-discipline. Although the program is designed to challenge you on many levels, the coursework is fascinating and relevant, and your cohort becomes like family who is with you every step of the way.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the MAOP Program, William James College, or my experience thus far - I’m always happy to discuss further!
