Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time commitment outside of class time

Students should plan to spend from five to eight hours per week beyond the weekend class meetings. There are readings to prepare for class, online assignments between classes, and group and/or individual projects. Students are encouraged to find opportunities to practice coaching informally, working with friends, colleagues and each other.

What are the hours for the weekend classes

Weekend classes meet on Saturday and Sunday, once a month, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What is the practicum like

The practicum for the certificate program is supervised by a Master Coach. You are assigned a coaching client who is a leader in a non-profit organization. This is a brief coaching engagement;most coaches meet with their clients 7 to 9 times over the course of four months. You will be practicing all the components of a coaching engagement, from contracting through assessment to development planning and implementation. The practicum also includes a class, where you will present your coaching case using a method for peer supervision.

What are some typical jobs that students have after completing the coaching program

Graduates work as independent coaches on their own or in small partnerships, or as internal coaches/consultants within HR departments of organizations and corporations. Some graduates stay in current roles, as HR business partners or line managers, for example, and use their coaching skills to find greater fulfillment in their roles.
