SCH PS630 - Legal, Ethical, and Professional Issues in School Psychology
This course broadens and deepens students’ knowledge and appreciation of historical, legal, ethical, and professional issues in providing psychological services in schools. In addition to relevant laws, and ethical and professional standards, the course addresses roles and priorities, use of supervision, professional development, and technology. Practical issues include use of the personal computer and the internet to organize and process information, write reports, network with other professionals, and find resource materials. These skills and perspectives are applied to the study of current issues and controversies in the field of school psychology. Particular emphases are conceptual, professional, legal, and ethical issues; and, emerging problems and opportunities in school psychology including service delivery models and methods. Pre-requisite: Permission of the instructor.
