In keeping with our “integrated model,” the program links coursework with concurrent field work, providing the opportunity to practice skills as they are learned in the classroom.
The doctoral internship requires a
minimum of 1600 hours, at least half of which is in a clinical setting.
The internship may be completed over a period of 1-2 years, at a
minimum of 16 hours per week. The clinical setting may be a specialized
educational program (e.g., a school for students with behavioral and
emotional disabilities). Job-as-placement cannot serve as the doctoral
level internship, as it would not meet requirements for psychology
licensure or for APA program approval. A separately defined training
experience in the school district where one is employed (e.g, an
internship program, or an after-school program that provides therapeutic
services) may qualify depending on the circumstances.
