Crisis Response and Behavioral Health Department Presents at Forensic Day

On Friday, October 14, the Center for Crisis Response and Behavioral Health had the opportunity to present at William James College Forensic Day, which featured presentations, interactive panels, and a career fair related to working with law enforcement and the courts. Dr. Sarah Abbott, director of the Center for Crisis Response and Behavioral Health, moderated a discussion about co-response featuring Bonnie Cuccaro, associate director; Chief Lester Baker, Framingham police; and Joanne Barros, statewide director of jail and arrest diversion initiatives for the Department of Mental Health (DMH). They discussed their experience with co-response focusing on its development, state-wide growth, and clinical outcomes.

Following the panel, Dr. Abbott presented on the newly launched Graduate Certificate in Crisis Response and Behavioral Health, offered through the Center. The first cohort of students commenced in September 2022 and includes six mental health clinicians and six police officers from across the state.
