This course focuses on teachers’ sociocultural identities, social emotional competencies, areas of privilege and marginalization, and how these constructs have influenced their values, beliefs, biases and teaching practices.  This course enhances teachers’ commitment to continued self-evaluation and self-critique to enhance their ability to practice cultural humility, as well as to examine and use inclusive and equitable teaching practices. Theoretical constructs associated with clinical and organizational psychology, and how those constructs influence school climate, social emotional learning, student mental health, and systems change will be discussed. Finally, this course will set the foundation for the year-long process of self-reflection and action planning.
