The Kenya Immersion Experience is a dynamic and experiential learning opportunity that addresses humanitarian needs in Kenya. The Kenya immersion is an opportunity for students to practice “relational development” and become part of a working team creating positive change in communities. Since 2015, the program has cultivated important partnerships with Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW), Always Keeping Girls in School (AKGIS), Fairmont/Accor, Women First International Fund, and Community Health Partners (CHP) to address climate change, gender equity, economic empowerment, and education. The goal of this course is to provide students the opportunity to experience life in both rural and urban Kenyan communities, and to form relationships that facilitate learning, resilience, and well-being. Issues concerning collaborative governance, justice, global poverty, and grant writing will be explored. A selective interview process is required.
