Rachel Portnoy

INTERFACE Resource and Referral Counselor

Rachel Portnoy has been a resource and referral counselor at the INTERFACE Referral Service since 2019. She currently works in partnership with Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) to serve the mental health needs of the Jewish community in Massachusetts. She also assists Newton Firefighter Association Members and their families access care. She received degrees in Psychology and Spanish Language/Hispanic Studies from Brandeis University. Rachel is passionate about helping trauma survivors and has volunteered at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, providing support to survivors of sexual violence. Rachel also has a background in research, specifically focused on gender-based violence on college campuses. Additionally, Rachel has an interest in geriatrics and often assists older adult clients in her current role at INTERFACE, which she finds extremely rewarding. She recognizes that navigating both the health insurance and the mental health landscape can be overwhelming and challenging, and through her role at INTERFACE, she hopes to make this process easier and provide a supportive, informative, and warm space for callers to address their mental health needs.
