John R. Minahan, MA, PhD

Research Associate, Human Trafficking Research Hub

John received an MA in organization psychology from William James College (WJC) in 2020 and affiliated with the Human Trafficking Research Hub (the Hub) shortly thereafter.

At the Hub John is part of a team which recently published its inaugural paper based on its research on the roles of attachment patterns and trauma-coerced bonding in the stages of survivors’ experiences of commercial sex (available online here). John continues to work with the team on this research, and on advising doctoral students doing their dissertation research with the Hub.

John also wrote a paper on the research team itself from the perspective of organizational psychology. That paper can be found here.

Prior to studying for his MA, John had a career as an institutional investment consultant and finance academic. He is particularly interested in the human dimensions of investing, which is, in part, what led him to study psychology.

In addition to his MA in organizational psychology from WJC, John received a BS in economics from Boston College and a PhD in applied economics from MIT.  He is currently studying community psychoanalysis at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and is a board member of Crossing Point Arts, a NY-based non-profit that has reached over 7500 survivors of human trafficking through the arts.

John is an avid hiker. He especially likes hiking with his family and friends.
