Program Leadership Psychology PsyD
Class of 2027

As a lifelong learner passionate about personal and professional growth, as well as fostering growth in others, I was looking for a doctoral program that would provide a deep sense of connection and community, offer opportunities for personal development, and involve experiential learning. I wanted a program where I could apply theory to real-world situations and make a positive impact on the world around me.

As a leader primarily in the healthcare field for several years and a licensed therapist, I have assisted others in making lasting changes both individually and on organizational levels through team and relationship building, training and development, change management, coaching, and therapeutic techniques, to name a few. I have a passion for helping and connecting with others, which has directed my career decisions and by attending this doctoral program, I want to not only gain more insight into changing macro-level systems but also enhance my personal development.

From day one of inquiring about the doctoral program, going through the admissions process, and starting the program, I have felt an overwhelming sense of connection and support. The amount of personal and professional growth has also been transformational, even though I recently started.

I truly enjoy being part of an amazing cohort, where I have the privilege to learn and interact with exceptional faculty members, contributing to an enriching academic experience. Additionally, I have actively sought opportunities to engage with the academic community and fellow students, for example, becoming a member of the OLP Academic Council and Engaging Students (ACES), as well as collaborating with faculty members on exciting projects.

One of my favorite quotes by Simon Sinek is, "The best leaders are lifelong learners; they take measures to continually improve and adapt." Life is indeed a journey of self-exploration, and though pursuing a doctorate may seem overwhelming, taking the crucial step to join a community where you are genuinely connected and never feel alone is invaluable. Remember, investing in yourself during this transformative journey is worth it.

I wish you the best in making this decision and if I can be of assistance, please feel free to reach out.
