Hello! I am Arhum Rizvi, I am from Webster, MA. I am pursuing my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at William James College, with a concentration in Forensic and Correctional Counseling.
I chose William James College because of its commitment to diversity and the alignment of its values with my professional goals. The college’s focus on real-world experience and hands-on training made it the perfect place for me to grow as a mental health professional.
On campus, I represent Academic Counselors Engaging Students (ACES), a student-led organization that enhances student engagement on and off campus for the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department. I am also the LEAD representative of the Department, which works closely with the Dean of Students to address any non-academic issues that may arise at WJC.
My career interests lie in forensic psychology and clinical mental health within correctional settings. I aspire to work with incarcerated individuals, providing therapeutic support and advocating for mental health awareness in the justice system. I am looking forward to pursuing the Clinical PsyD program at WJC right after the completion of my MA. My career goal is to become a forensic psychologist.
In addition to English, I speak Urdu and Hindi.
I advise new students to stay open to every learning opportunity and build connections with peers and faculty. A successful first-year experience comes from actively engaging in classes, seeking support when needed, and participating in campus activities. Remember, this journey is about personal and professional growth, so embrace each moment!
