Class of 2025

Hi there!

My name is Rogina. I am Haitian-American, born and raised in Mattapan, MA. I am currently pursuing my bachelor's in psychology and human services at William James College (WJC).

I originally dropped out of the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2018-struggling both personally and academically. I decided to take a couple more classes at Bunker Hill Community College, but then COVID-19 happened and disrupted my momentum. I felt stuck. During lockdown, mental health became the beaming light of hope for me and several others around me-so I knew I needed to keep going. A friend of mine shared the same passion for psychology and was already attending WJC. They suggested that I look into WJC’s hybrid bachelor’s program, and the rest is history. Not only were they flexible, but it was an institution dedicated to psychology, which was my favorite feature of this school. Since starting in the Fall of 2022, I have gained an immense amount of knowledge on topics that resonated with me, both personally and professionally, which has expanded my understanding and perspective on life. Also, they have connected me to opportunities like becoming a tutor or accessing tutoring services at the Academic Resource Center.

The community here, though small, is mighty, and gives students an opportunity to connect with one another and cultivate an engaging learning environment. If you choose William James College, you will gain an experience that will prepare you as a professional and equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in your chosen field. Most importantly, you will feel welcomed and always walk away with something that will contribute to your own personal growth. If this is what you are looking for, then WJC may be the right school for you!
