Hello! My name is Tess and I am a part of the 2025-2026 Behavioral Health Service Corps (BHSC) cohort. I graduated in the spring of 2025 with a double major in psychology and sociology as well as a criminal justice certificate. I spent my undergraduate years wanting to experience as much as I possibly could to truly discover my passion. Throughout those four years, I gained many valuable experiences that prepared me for my future, however, as graduation rounded the corner, I didn’t feel quite ready to go to graduate school just yet.
When I heard about the BHSC, I knew that this was exactly what I needed for this period of my life. The BHSC provided me with the opportunity to continue my education, join the behavioral health workforce, get free graduate school credits, and receive constant mentorship and support from dedicated faculty and staff. I saw the BHSC as the perfect next step for myself, as a recent graduate who was still unsure of what to come next, to engage in a gap-year unlike any other. I couldn’t think of a better way to continue to learn more about the field I want to dedicate my career to both inside and outside of the classroom.
As I continue the BHSC, my goal is to obtain my PsyD and to become a forensic psychologist. William Jame’s BHSC not only introduced me to the program, but also to the college’s expansive and knowledgeable faculty. I am given the opportunity to network with faculty and staff to learn about the college’s inclusive culture, diverse priorities, and innovation in leadership. I know that once I apply to William James College, I will have a deeper, more personal investment in the school because I have participated in this program and experienced firsthand the discipline, humility, ambition, and standards of excellence that persist throughout many facets of the college.
Please feel free to email me with any questions that you have! Whether my story looks similar to yours or not, I'd be more than happy to connect with those that are interested in joining this program.
