Program Behavioral Health Service Corps
Class of 2025

My name is Tiara Anderson and I am originally from Dallas, Texas. I recently graduated from Spelman College this past Spring 2024, where I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Psychology.

I am a scholar of the Behavioral Health Service Corps (BHSC) at Williams James College. BHSC is a paid, year-long service and learning opportunity for recent college graduates that offers hands-on experience in behavioral healthcare and credits toward a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Scholars receive mentoring from mental health professionals, engage in personal introspection, and develop professionally while learning about the needs of diverse populations in the field.

I decided to partake in this program because it allowed me the opportunity to explore my gap year in the most efficient way possible. In BHSC, I am able to take higher level graduate courses, gain impactful work experiences and career development to set me up for my future career goals. I currently work with an organization that services the underserved in all many aspects of their lives. Actively working in the clinical field while studying different mental illnesses greatly helped me decide which path I want to take. In the near future I plan to obtain my Psy.D in Clinical Psychology with a forensics track, to continue to serve different communities that are greatly overlooked.

The BHSC has helped me develop professionally and prepare me for graduate school and the professional world of behavioral health services.
