This graduate-level course provides an overview of the physiological, biomechanical, motor, sociocultural, and philosophical bases of behavior in sport. Students will explore the major disciplines of the sport sciences, including exercise physiology, sports medicine, sport nutrition, motor behavior, biomechanics, coaching, and contemporary social issues. Students will understand how sport and exercise science principles are applied in real world settings and will develop strategies to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary professionals in each sub-discipline. This course emphasizes sport science principles and applied interpretation; it does not provide training in psychological assessment or intervention.
