Boston Globe: Talk to Kids about Race, Here's How to Start

Parents should engage with children about racial injustice early and often. Proactive anti-racism requires more than one discussion. In fact, according to Dr. Natalie Cort, Director of the William James College Black Mental Health Graduate Academy and assistant professor of Clinical Psychology, research shows kids begin to form negative racial biases as early as age 3. By age 11, she said, these perspectives are “crystallized.”

Dr. Cort and Dr. Charmain Jackman, Dean of Health & Wellness at Boston Arts Academy, spoke with The Boston Globe and offered advice for parents of all racial backgrounds.
