Connecting Communities to Mental HealthCare
William James College INTERFACE Referral Service
INTERFACE Referral Service is a subscription-based program that benefits your residents, students, or employees
Once a community, college, or organization subscribes, its members gain free and confidential access to the INTERFACE Referral Service Helpline. This mental health referral service connects individuals with the right behavioral health providers through compassionate guidance and expert matching from our team—primarily composed of master’s-level clinicians at William James College, a leader in applied psychology education. For over 20 years, INTERFACE has helped thousands of individuals find the support they need.

What We Do
Our Helpline is staffed predominately by master’s level clinicians, many of whom are licensed in the mental health field, working closely with callers to connect with the best provider match. We consider:
- Mental health needs
- Insurance and/or self-pay fees (if desired)
- Provider expertise and characteristics
- Availability
Each intake call (approx. 20 minutes) is followed by a thorough search in our dynamic database of 10,000+ licensed providers. We provide personalized matches, giving callers real options and real hope.
Our “white-glove” approach includes an average of 3 hours per case—from intake to provider matching to follow-up to ensure fit between consumer and provider.

Why it Matters
Half of all mental health disorders show first signs before a person turns 14-years-old, and three-quarters of mental health disorders begin before age 24. Unfortunately, only half of children and adolescents with diagnosable mental health conditions receive the treatment they need. Early mental health support can help a child before problems interfere with other developmental needs. (SAMHSA, Mental Health: Get the Facts)
Over 20% of adults experience mental health issues, yet only 45% receive care.
(2023 State of Mental Health in America)
As the American Psychological Association notes, “The relationship between patient and psychologist matters—a lot.” At INTERFACE, we believe the right match makes all the difference.
