1) What inspired you to pursue your degree?
So one day I realized life is short and decided to build a career helping people and organizations more effectively pursue their goals in a creative, efficient, and happy way.I came to this from an unexpected direction. I started in finance and have owned a tennis club for many years. It was a great experience, but what I loved most about it was helping people look at things differently so that they could move forward or work together in ways that made use of the differences between them. I was intrigued by the questions of why organizations struggle despite having really great people with great ideas? So one day I realized life is short and decided to build a career helping people and organizations more effectively pursue their goals in a creative, efficient, and happy way.
2) Describe your experience at William James College?
People usually refer to their undergraduate institution as their “alma mater”, but I have to say that, for me, William James is what fills that role. I feel really privileged to be able to spend four years with a group of like-minded people, students and faculty, who really care about helping others. This journey has been challenging both intellectually and emotionally. Not only are we learning to help others, but we are also learning a great deal about ourselves, which is part of the reflexive process. The space that the faculty and my peers have created here is what makes all of that possible. I have to say that I get a little sad thinking that graduation is fast approaching.
3) What do you envision doing in your career post-graduation?
Why wait until graduation? I am working and will continue to work to help leaders and their organizations optimize their human systems so that they can meet the challenges of a complex and rapidly changing world in a way that is engaging and meaningful.
