Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA Checklist
This checklist was developed to assist entering students with their transition to graduate study. Please read it over carefully, and be sure to complete all the items as noted.
Once you have accepted our admission offer and paid the deposit, you should receive an email from the Information Technology (IT) Department with instructions on how to set up your email and access to all WJC systems. Check your junk/spam folder as it sometimes gets filtered there by your personal email. It is important that you set up your email and check it on a daily basis. You should use your WJC email to communicate with the college.
Registration
You will receive an email from the Department Coordinator, Ms. Ana Bueso, with information on how to sign up for a registration appointment with the Department Chair, Dr. Nilda Laboy.
Academic Advisor
You will receive an email from the Department Chair, Dr. Nilda Laboy, with the name of your assigned advisor, who you will meet during orientation.
Ed Tech Orientation
You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
Textbook List
Students should purchase required textbooks from their preferred vendor before the start of classes. Lists of required textbooks may be emailed to you in advance of the semester. Please check with your department coordinator for more information. When available, lists are also posted here.
Orientation
The mandatory Spring 2024 orientation will take place from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM ET. You will meet your Academic Advisor during Orientation.
On-Campus Program Students:
Wednesday, January 3, 2024
9:00 AM-4:00 PM
The orientation session will be held in person at WJC and you are required to attend.
Online Program Students:
Thursday, January 4, 2024
9:00 AM-4:00 PM ET
This orientation will be conducted in person and via Zoom and you are required to
attend in person on campus if you live within driving distance; otherwise you are
required to attend via Zoom.
Start of Classes
Classes start on Monday, January 8, 2024.
