This course aims to provide a stimulating context in which to introduce students to a number of important issues that have been the topic of much conversation and/or debate in the mental health field. Some of these issues are long-standing, some more current. Students are invited to critically examine the key elements of each perspective and evaluate the available information. Students will also be introduced to the various roles within a multidisciplinary team, particularly the role and activities of mental health professionals. Students will become familiar with the human service settings in which they work and how their responsibilities complement those of the team.
