This course focuses on the intervention approaches based on the learning and information processing models of human behavior. This course will address issues of therapeutic alliance, assessment strategies, clinical formulation, treatment planning, and intervention strategies. Student case presentations will be used to provide clinical data for instruction in each of these intervention components. The cognitive-behavioral formulation will be compared and contrasted to the psychoanalytic, systems, existential, developmental and biological models. Empirically validated treatments will be reviewed in terms of both their research base as well as clinical application. Open only to students in the doctoral program in School Psychology.
