The Mental Performance Consulting (MPC) Concentration prepares graduate students to apply psychological principles to enhance performance, well-being, and personal development in sport, exercise, and other performance domains. This concentration aligns with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Graduate Program Standards, ensuring students gain the knowledge, skills, and applied experience necessary for a career in mental performance consulting.

The concentration coursework satisfies the AASP Association for Applied Sport Psychology competency and content areas to be eligible for CMPC national certification:
- Professional Ethics and Standards (AASP Knowledge Area 1)
- Sport Psychology (AASP Knowledge Area 2)
- Sport Science (AASP Knowledge Area 3)
- Psychopathology (AASP Knowledge Area 4)
- Helping Relationships (AASP Knowledge Area 5)
- Research Methods and Statistics (AASP Knowledge Area 6)
- Psychological Foundations of Behavior (AASP Knowledge Area 7)
- Diversity and Culture (AASP Knowledge Area 8)
To enroll, students must download the Concentration Declaration Form from the Registrar's Office webpage on MyCampus. The declaration form must be signed by the student's advisor first. The student will then schedule a meeting with the concentration director to review concentration expectations and develop an individualized sequence for concentration completion.
To qualify for certification by the Association for Applied Sports Psychology (AASP), students must complete the following courses. This will increase the the degree program by 4 additional credits for a total of 102 (completion of a graduate 3-credit course in psychopathology prior to the Leadership PsyD program, will only increase by 1 credit).
PsyD in Leadership Psychology required courses:

- LP723 - Qualitative Methods of Naturalistic Inquiry (credits: 3)

- LP763 - Leadership, Use of Self, and Multicultural Competence (credits: 3)
- LP909 - Process Consultation and Facilitation Skills for OD Practitioners (credits: 2)
