Conditional Admission
Transfer Options for Pre-Bachelor’s Level Students

We have a recommended path for students who do not meet the General Education requirements for the Bachelor of Science completion program at William James College.

Students are eligible for the William James College BS completion program if they have 45-60 credits and have completed the Massachusetts General Education Foundation Courses. These foundation courses are below.

Conditional admission is not an option for international students due to DHS regulations.

If you do not currently meet the Massachusetts General Education Foundation course requirements, there are affordable options for you. Here’s what you need to know:

  • General education requirements may be completed at any accredited college or university. 
  • Students are strongly advised to seek preapproval of courses from the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Kerri Augusto, prior to enrolling in specific courses.  She can be reached by email at kerri_augusto@williamjames.edu.
  • If you are looking for a place to complete these courses, we encourage students to use the flexible and cost-effective online course offerings from Study.com. William James College is an ACE-credit accepting institution. The following Study.com courses are fully transferrable, provided a student earns a grade of C (75%) or higher.

  • Criminal Justice 101:  Intro to Criminal Justice
  • Geography 101:  Human and Cultural Geography
  • Criminal Justice 106:  Forensic Science
  • Political Science 103:  Comparative Politics

Humanities and Fine Arts

  • Religion 101: Intro to World Religions
  • Humanities 101:  Intro to the Humanities
  • Art 103:  History of Western Art
  • Philosophy 102:  Ethics in America
  • Humanities 201:  Critical Thinking and Analysis

Natural or Physical Science

  • Biology 101L:  Intro to Biology with Lab (4 credits)
  • Biology201L:  Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab (4 credits)
  • Biology 202L:  Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab (4 credits)
  • Chemistry 111L:  Chemistry I with Lab (4 credits)
  • Chemistry 112L:  Chemistry II with Lab (4 credits)

English Composition/Writing

  • English 104:  College Composition I
  • English 105:  College Composition II

Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning

  • Math 101:  College Algebra
  • Math 102:  College Mathematics

If you pursue this path, you can receive Conditional Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Services at William James College and begin to take courses.

As part of your conditional admission, you will have the option to complete the required general education requirements and enroll in up to two courses at William James College concurrently. These WJC courses will count towards your 60 required credits for the Bachelor’s completion program

To move from conditional admission to full admission and matriculation, you will need to do the following:

  • Successfully complete the Massachusetts General Education Foundation Courses with a passing grade. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions Office at William James College.
  • Successfully complete at least one required or elective William James College course with a grade of C (75%) or better.
