Insurance Options

Carelon Behavioral Health (Formerly Beacon Health Strategies)
Includes: Wellsense, Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP), Boston Medical Center Health Plan (BMCHP), Wellforce, and  Fallon Health.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield

MassHealth: Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP)
Coverage for mental health services under MassHealth is variable. Some versions of Mass Health—such as MassHealth Limited— offer no coverage whatsoever for mental health assessment services. Please be prepared to discuss your particular MassHealth plan with us.

Medicare

Tufts Health Together
We are not otherwise an in-network provider for Tufts.

Secondary Insurance

We can only bill your primary insurance, and your primary insurance must be one of the insurance plans listed above.

Plans with Copays

If your plan requires you to pay a copay, payment will be expected at the start of each visit.

Plans with Deductibles

Please note that if your plan has a deductible, you will have to pay us directly to "use up" your deductible before we can proceed to bill your insurance. We provide you with a detailed invoice to document to your insurer your deductible payments to us. It is your responsibility to confirm with your insurance company whether you have a deductible and how much is left.

Denials

The Brenner Center requests authorization for coverage from your insurance company prior to testing. Obtaining authorization is typically not an issue, but on rare occasions, an insurance company may deny the authorization request. We will notify you of any denial of coverage. You are responsible to follow up with your insurance company to appeal the denial should you decide to pursue insurance-paid testing at the Brenner Center. We will help you with the appeal process.

Please first call your insurance company with specific questions regarding your plan. If you still have questions, please call us and have your insurance card and ID number ready.

Private Pay and Fees

If we are not in network with your primary insurance plan, or you would like to pay privately, we complete comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for $3,500. This payment is due at the time of testing. You may pay with check or card via PayPal, or check. 

Insurance does not cover academic testing.  If you chose to use insurance, there is a $1000 fee associated with adding academic testing to an insurance funded neuropsychological evaluation.

There is a $200 fee per hour associated with ongoing consultation following the completion of the report and feedback session.

Reimbursement

If we are in network, you are not eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company if you choose to pay privately. 

If you are out of network, you may be eligible for reimbursement. We will provide you an itemized invoice that you may submit to your insurer to seek reimbursement.
